Module Creation

In the Office24by7 platform, a module is a self-contained unit that includes various objects to manage, organize, and optimize your operations. You can create multiple modules relating to communication, sales, marketing, support, HR, inventory management, purchases, or any other area of operation you want to focus on.

Inside the module, you can create objects or sub-sections, which provide various functions that comprise a module. For easy understanding, consider the Office24by7 platform as a room. Modules are the different cabinets in the room, and objects are various compartments in each of these cabinets.

Purpose of Module Creation

Creating a module in the Office24by7 platform provides a structured and efficient way to manage, organize, and optimize specific areas of operation within a business. Segmenting various operational tasks into distinct modules can help businesses improve the overall functionality of their processes. Each module encompasses relevant objects that offer specific functions and tools tailored to the needs of that area. This modular approach ensures systematic organization and better resource management. It enhances a more focused approach to achieving business goals.

Custom Fields

Custom fields refer to the fields that are used in creating objects. The admin can easily add them to the object using the drag-and-drop function. They are highly customizable and can be modified anytime in the field settings panel.

Creating an Object in a Module

Once a module is created, it will appear under the ‘Module’ panel. You can create multiple modules. All the modules will appear with serial numbers in a table form. You can find the module name, description, number of objects in the module, created date, last modified date, current status (active/inactive), and an action button against all modules in the table, as shown in the image below.

Now, let’s take a look at how to create an object in a module.

Step 1: On the ‘Module’ panel, click the ‘Add Object’ button at the top-right corner. This will open the object creation panel on the right-hand side of the workspace.

Step 2: Click the ‘Select Module’ dropdown and choose the module in which you want to create the object.

Step 3: Give a name to the object in the ‘Add Object Name’ field.

Step 4: Create a description for the object in the ‘Description’ field. You can describe in detail what the purpose of the object is, what actions to perform in it, when to update it, or anything relating to it.

Step 5: Click ‘Save’.

Step 6: Once you click ‘Save’, you can see that the ‘Number of Objects’ column in the modules table has been updated. To define the fields in an object, click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) button in the ‘Action’ cell against the desired module. A drop-down menu appears with the options ‘Edit Module’ and ‘Manage Object’.

Step 7: Click ‘Manage Object’. A new table appears with the list of all objects in the module.

Step 8: If you want to add more objects in the same module, click the ‘Add Object’ button in the top-right corner of the table and provide the details like object name and description.

In this way, you can create multiple objects in the same module from the ‘Module’ panel or directly from inside the objects list.

Add & Edit Columns

Enhance flexibility by allowing admins to add and modify columns directly from the object view without needing to navigate to Field settings.

What’s New:

  • You can now add columns directly from the table view of any object.
  • You can also edit columns to customize and configure them directly within the object.
  • This feature is exclusive to Admin users.
  • Available only in Table View (not supported in Kanban or Full Page views).

How It Works:

To Add New Columns:

  • Select your module → select object.
  • Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to any column name → select ‘Add Column’ → choose the column type.
  • Configure the field in the side panel with Label Name, Description, and other settings as per your requirement → click ‘Save’.

In this way, you can add new columns without closing the objects panel. This allows full visibility into the object and the existing columns while adding new ones.

To Edit Columns:

  • Select your module → select object.
  • Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to any column name → select ‘Edit Column’ → the column settings side panel appears.
  • Configure the column settings in this panel. You can change the column label name, description, and customize other settings in it.
  • Click ‘Save’.

In this way, you can edit any column without going to the ‘Site Setup’ menu. This allows full visibility into the object and the existing columns while editing existing ones.

Bonus Feature – Pin Column:

  • Use the ‘Pin Column’ option from the same ⋮ menu to freeze important columns, keeping them visible as you scroll horizontally across the table.

Deleting an Object

If you wish to remove an object you have created in the module:

Step 1: Go to the ‘Module’ function under ‘Site Setup’.

Step 2: Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) icon against the preferred object in the ‘Action’ column in the table.

Step 3: Click ‘Delete’.

Your object is now deleted.
